ST CLAIR INTERNATIONAL STUD LOFTS

Sydney Australia

St Clair Stud is situated on the side of a hill overlooking the Blue Mountains which are about 10kms away. With over 50 trees being on our property, we see a lot of bird life everyday. The drought has forced many species of birds towards the coast. At the present time we have over 200 birds a day visiting us for water and the odd feed of fruits and seeds. Join us for a look at our new friends.

Rainbow Lorikeets at St Clair Stud

Long Billed Corella & friends. Get a look at that beak!!!

Scaley Lorikeet. Normally found further north than Sydney.

Long Billed Corella's.

Looking out of our 2nd storey level bar at St Clair Stud (whilst downing a few coldies), , the birds can be seen perching in the trees at night.

A rare visitor to the Sydney area. A female Koel (left) spends the summer months here, usually arriving in October for the breeding season and departing around March. The male (right) is completely black. Koel's spend our Sydney winter months up north anywhere from Indonesia to Papua New Guinea where it is warmer with some staying over in far north Queensland. Koels are a member of the cuckoo family which probably means they are in some way related to pigeon fanciers ... LOL. These 2 Koel's are seen here at St Clair Stud in January 2007.

Another female Koel visited us on 19th January for a feed of native berries. here she is well camouflaged under the foilage of a frangipani tree.

A regular visitor is this Indian ringneck which has apparently escaped from someone's aviary. He digs into the feed along with the native Lorikeets with no problems. A native of Asia he appears to be right at home in the bush here.
